Tensilon Test / Edrophonium Test A thing I have learned from the review today…. In Myasthenia Gravis, to check whether the client is on a myasthenic crisis or cholinergic crisis, an Edrophonium or Tensilon Test should be done. When you administer an edrophonium (via IV) to the patient, her condition will improve if she is on Myasthenic Crisis. Remember, Myasthenic Crisis is caused by skipping medications, therefore, administering an anticolinesterase, which is an Edrophonium, will improve the patient’s condition, thus confirming the crisis. But if you administer an Edrophonium (via IV) to the patient and her condition worsens, she is on a Cholinergic Crisis. Remember, Cholinergic Crisis is caused by an excessive medication, therefore adding an “extra” medication to the patient will even worsen you patients condition! But if you want to make your life easier in remembering these, just remember the word “MICE”, which means… Myasthenic Crisis Improve Cholinergic Crisis Exacerbate
